Hey all,
So it’s 6:12 AM and I haven’t slept yet. My mother would positively kill me if she knew I was up all night doing work! But, you gotta do what you gotta do. And, I only have another week and a half of this strange sleep schedule of mine! And then I get a bit of a break.
So tonight I finished The Delivery! Of course, as Pier always says, and as I’ve always thought, nothing is ever done! I’ll want to be tweaking that thing forever, but at this point, there’s just no time. The screening is on Sunday already! And I have to turn in my (and a bunch of other students’) tapes by 11:00. Pier really wanted me to change the sound effect that I designed for my helmet…and I kind of agree that it is a little bit too electronic and not “home-made” enough…but, there are two reasons why I didn’t want to mess with it.
1.) TIME! No time. It takes a REALLY long time to design a good, quality sound…especially for something that you don’t really know what it’s supposed to sound like!
2.) My helmet doesn’t have any moving parts, and it doesn’t have any flashing or blinking lights. It made sense to me that the only noise it could really make was electronic, since you don’t need a visual to go along with that anyway. I’d feel uncomfortable and I don’t think it would work if I put together a very physical sounding sound effect — that is, something “clickie” and “robotic” — to a helmet that doesn’t actually move. I would be tempted to show the helmet’s pieces moving!!
Anyway. Otherwise, I think it turned out nicely. We’ll see how it fares on the big screen…
